After 13 years inside the building, The Polk County History Center sign Thursday finally went into place. When it started getting moved from the room inside, Historic Preservation Manager Myrtice Young said, "It's moving, whoo-hoo!" Employees of Semco Construction place the sign on the corner facing Broadway in Bartow. From left is Raymond Wells, Jake Joyner, Ricky Hughes, Junior Gutierrez, Jim Phillips and Jeremy Rogers. On Tuesday, a ceremony will be held at 5:15 p.m. marking the placement of the sign, the sesquicentennial plaque and the renaming of the building.
