Bartow City Commissioners face a major decision. The impact fee instituted Dec. 15, 2011, will sunset (that is, expire) on Dec. 14 if no action is taken. They were reminded of this by City Manager George Long during the Oct. 1 workshop.
According to Long, construction this year has totaled $20 million. Included in that figure were residential single family valuations, along with residential multi-family valuations, commercial property valuations, and for this month a permit for Bartow Regional Medical Center; the latter valued at $10.5 million. The impact fee moratorium has led to $276,327.75 not collected by the city.
