Students make marks in science

Andrew Noonan, a sophomore in the Bartow High School IB program, has been invited to participate in the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering and Environment Project Olympiad in Houston, TX. in May. His project is called "Concentrated Solar - Creating an Improved Energy System."

Annika Mulaney, a sophomore in the Bartow HIgh School I.B. program, will be taking her award-winning project, "Screening of Novel Drugs for the Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease" to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, in Phoenix, AZ. in May.
Addressing two timely topics, solar energy and Alzheimer’s, two students at Bartow’s International Baccalaureate program have caught the attention of the larger science community. The two were among 14 Bartow IB students who came home with awards from the regional science fair last week.
Sophomore Andrew Noonan has been invited to take his science fair project on concentrated solar energy to the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering and Environmental Project Olympiad, (ISWEEEP) which will be held in May in Houston, Texas. His experiment features a large parabolic reflector that concentrates solar energy onto a central focal point.
