Ken Riley

Topping the number of items and issues when Bartow City Commissioners meet Monday, March 18, will be a resolution urging the Pro Football Hall of Fame Seniors Committee and the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee to select Ken Riley as a finalist and to enshrine him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2014.

Riley, who was born and raised in Bartow, had a 15-year career in the NFL, all of it with the Cincinnati Bengals; he retired following the 1983 season. During his career, he was one of the — if not the — top cornerbacks in the league. In retirement, Riley stands in fifth place in interceptions. Currently, the four players who are ahead of Riley in statistics, as well as the person who is in the sixth place career-wise, are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
