Called upon to address an appreciative audience following the unanimous passage of a resolution calling for Ken Riley to be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Riley spoke more about the importance of being a contributing member to one's community.
An emotion-charged citizenry packed Bartow’s city hall chamber Monday, March 19. They were there to support and pour out their love for one of the city’s native-born sons. The occasion was the issuance of a resolution calling for the eventual installation of Ken Riley into the Pro Football Hall of Fame; an honor many believe long overdue to one of the top cornerbacks of his day.
The mood was established earlier, during the earlier-held work session, when Mayor Leo Longworth called upon City Attorney Sean Parker to update commissioners on the resolution that had been proposed several months earlier.
