Work continues to expand the roadway from four to six lanes on U.S. 98 from County Road 540A to Winter Lake Road and drivers should expect northbound and/or southbound lane closures from 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for several months. Northbound traffic remains shifted onto newly constructed travel lanes from C.R. 540A to Clubhouse Road. Southbound traffic remains shifted onto newly constructed lanes from S.R. 540 — Winter Lake Road — to Autumnwood Grove Boulevard.
Roadway reconstruction and installation of new roadway drainage pipe requires a temporary road closure at Clubhouse Road east of U.S. 98 which started this week. Motorists and residents are asked to use Hancock Avenue SE and 1st Street as a temporary detour route. In addition, The Fort Fraser Trail at Clubhouse Road will be closed while crews perform this work. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured across U.S. 98 at the school signalized crossing north of Central Avenue and at the north side of Clubhouse Road. This temporary road closure is scheduled for approximately two weeks, the Florida Department of Transportation reports.
