The Bartow High School Boy’s Basketball team continues to rack up the victories.

The Jackets went an impressive 3-1 over the Christmas break at the Nike Invitational Classic in Atlanta, Ga.

Bartow defeated Whitefield Academy (Mableton, Ga.), 66-65; Crisp County (Cordele, Ga.), 69-42; Norland (Miami, Fla.) 58-56.

Bartow’s lone loss came to Wenonah (Birmingham, Ala.) 60-48 in a game that was closer than the final score indicates.

Friday night Bartow went down to the wire with rival Lake Wales. The Jackets were led by Chris Perry with 16 points and Derrick Brooks with 14 points. The first 12 points by Brooks were important but the last two won the game.

Brooks nailed a 15-foot jumper as time expired to give Bartow a 68-66 win over the defending state champs.

The win lifted the Bartow record to 12-2 on the season.

The Jackets traveled to Ridge Community Tuesday for a key district contest. The game ended later than the print deadline and will be featured in Saturday’s edition.

This Friday, Bartow hosts Lake Region at The Hive. The game is a whiteout, where all Bartow fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. The varsity game tips at 7:30 p.m.
