BHS students earn
American FFA degree

Clifton Garcia, a student at Bartow High School, was selected in October with an American FFA degree.

The announcement was made at the 85th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis.

To be eligible for the degrees, FFA members must have earned and invested $7,500 through a supervised agricultural experience program where they start, own or hold a professional position in an existing agriculture enterprise. Recipients must complete 50 community service hours and demonstrated leadership abilities and community involvement.

Fire Department wins
superintendent award

In the middle/high school division the Bartow Fire Department was recognized last week by the Polk County School District in the Superintendent’s Award.

the annual presentation of various partnership awards were announced at an event last week at the historic theater in Winter Haven.

The partners honored include individuals, businesses, non-profit and community organizations that provided everything from donations to tutoring services to students, faculty and or administration during the 2011-2012 school year. Additionally, the business partners play a significant role in helping the district provide a relevant and rigorous curriculum for our students.
