Vote local

Editor;

A few months ago the Florida Legislature drew new district lines, and tossed Lake Wales and Frostproof into a district represented by Representative Mike Horner of Kissimmee. We weren’t asked for our opinions. That’s just how it’s done in Tallahassee.

Now Horner, a self-proclaimed “champion of family values,” has resigned after being snared in an ugly scandal involving male prostitutes. I don’t believe he ever represented our values, but his name remains on our local ballot.

Happily, we have the option of voting for own local candidate, Eileen Game of Frostproof. A professional and businesswoman, she owns an industrial software and training company. She is plain-spoken, moderate in her views, unassuming, and qualified.

Southeast Polk continues to need local representation, especially since our long-serving state senator, JD Alexander, is retiring due to term limits. Eileen Game can help to fill the need.

I suggest that local voters consider one of their own, and elect Eileen Game to represent us in Tallahassee.
