Congratulations to Lloyd Harris for producing an outstanding account of Bartow’s history. In his new book entitled “Images of Bartow” Lloyd presents a comprehensive and inclusive account of the town’s history. In addition to pictures of many of the people who made Bartow what it is today, Lloyd includes brief narratives that explain how Bartow began. He also explains many of the important watershed events that helped shape our town’s development.
Obviously, no book of this type can capture the full story, or present pictures of all persons who played significant roles in the evolution of a town as old as Bartow. However, Lloyd has done a commendable job of presenting and important pictorial account of the town’s history.
This book ought to be on the shelf of every home, school and library in the state. And, it should be otherwise available to everyone interested in Bartow’s history. We obtained our copy from the Bartow Christian Book Store, but I am sure “Images of Bartow” is available elsewhere.
Again, on behalf of our Board of Directors, we commend Lloyd for performing this great public service.
