J.W. Perdue, Sr.

J.W. Perdue, Sr. 82, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at his residence from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

J.W. was born May 7, 1930, in Bartow. Mr. Perdue was a member of First Baptist Church of Bowling Green and then became a member of Alturas Methodist Church.

He was a citrus grower and cattleman, with Perdue Groves and Ranch. He was past president of Alturas Packing Company, Airport Grove Corp., past president of Hardee Cattleman Association, chairman of livestock show and sale, director of Florida National Bank, past president of State High School Rodeo Association, past president of Wauchula Kiwanis Club and past president of Hardee County Roping Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Perdue.

J.W. is survived by his wife, Susan E. Perdue of Bartow; son, John W. Perdue, Jr., of Alturas; daughter, Debra P. Brannon of Alturas; four grandchildren, Johnna Terrazas of El Paso, Texas, Michele Hooper of Kissimmee, and Roy Perdue and John Perdue Patton, III, both of Alturas; and two great-granddaughters, Eva Terrazas and Sophia Terrazas, both of El Paso, Texas.

Visitation: Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home.

Funeral: Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment: Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
