Alvie C. “Cody” Gwirtz, 81, of Homeland, passed away Sunday,
Aug. 19, 2012, at Bartow Regional Medical Center of heart failure.

Born Saturday, March 14, 1931, in Orlando, Mrs. Gwirtz was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Bartow.

Mrs. Gwirtz is survived by her husband of 58 years, Eugene H. Gwirtz of Homeland; a son, Tony Gwirtz of Manteca, Calif.; two daughters, Cynthia Gwirtz-Satterfield of Roundup, Mont., and Jean Gwirtz of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; a stepbrother, Thomas Hayes of Fort Meade; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Friday,
Aug. 24, from 6-8 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 2180 S. Kissingen Ave., Bartow. Interment will be at Homeland Cemetery, Homeland.
