Luke Edward “Ed” Williams, 90, passed away from natural causes Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, in Bartow.

Born Dec. 25, 1922, in Fort Meade, he was the son of the late W.R. and Asunda Williams.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Willams was an active member of the Bartow First Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion Post #3, and he was a member of the Masonic Tuscin Lodge #6 of Bartow. He also was a longtime member of the Bartow Lions Club.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Connie L. Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances L. Williams of Bartow; son, Larry Williams of Lakeland; daughter, of Linda Holcomb and husband Ed of Lakeland; special friend Stephen Garcia of Lakeland; brother W.R. Williams of Oconee, Ill., four grandchildren; Robbie Davis (Deeanne), Joy L. Sears, Russ Holcomb, Michelle Holcomb; six great grandchildren, Jessica, Mary Frances, Olivia, Avery, Luke and Faith.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 3 from 1-2 p.m. at the Bartow First Baptist Church, 410 E. Church St.

Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the Florida Baptist Childrens Home or the charity of your choice.
