Traffic was tied up for approximately one hour on Oct. 30 following a four-car collision that occurred at 1:30 p.m., at the intersection of U.S. 17 and East Van Fleet Drive. The chain of events began when the brakes failed on vehicle at the left, which eventually flipped onto its side after a collision with one of the other vehicles involved.

On Oct. 31, shortly before noon, police were called to the Bartow Public Library after a couple discovered their car had been broken into while parked in the library parking lot.

The couple had returned to their car after about 45 minutes in the library to find the back passenger side window broken and a purse missing from the back seat, along with several other personal items.
