4 cars damaged in post-parade bang-up
Holiday traffic, combined with failure to yield on the part of one driver, ended up in a post-Christmas-parade bang-up affecting four cars. A passenger in one of the cars was transported to Bartow Regional Medical Center and the driver of another car said she would be going to Tampa General on her own.
Harold Eugene Simmons III, of Bartow, pulled out of Lowe’s parking lot, into Wilson Avenue, headed to the Publix parking lot across the street when his 1999 Toyota Tacoma struck a 2013 Volkswagon Passat driven by Patricia Ann Smith, of Lakeland. The wreck occurred at 8:13 p.m., just as crowds were disbursing from the annual Christmas parade.
