The Bobby Lane Cup held some exciting surprises for its 68 anglers. At the pre-tournament dinner, hosted by the Bartow High School Yellow Jackets, seminars to help anglers new to Lake Kissimmee were given by Yellow Jacket’s Angler of the Year, Luke Ferguson, and Winter Haven Lunker Lover’s, Michael Teate.
Keith Allen and his crew from “Ultimate Fishing Experience” and “Lured” filmed at the pre-tournament meeting and tournament for next year’s shows. Patrick Sebile, creator of Sebile Lures, gave a motivational talk and new lures to each of the anglers.
On tournament day, Bobby Lane and Terry Scroggins of the Elite Series, and FLW pro’s J.T. Kenney and Scott Martin brought gear for the anglers and the raffle and signed autographs.
Jeff Brooks, FBF Youth State Director, helped anglers network with potential sponsors. The opportunities afforded the anglers at this tournament were amazing.
There were 14 different clubs (one from Kentucky), Sixty-eight anglers included three lady anglers. 124 bass were caught weighing 236.34 pounds. The big bass was caught by Gage Reynolds of Kentucky, weighing 7.87 pounds.
The winners were:
First place: Matt Bedenbaugh and Kyle Stafford, 14.62 lbs (George Jenkins)
Second place: Dustin Bozeman and Luke Ferguson, 13.91 lbs (Bartow High School)
Third place: Harry Linsinbigler and Nico Groene, 12.66 lbs (Christian Academy)
Fourth place: Trenton Penvel and Beau Clymer, 11.43 lbs (Woodland Fishing Academy)
Fifth place: Cody Helmuth and Dalton Higgs, 10.25 lbs (Sarasota)
Six youth division teams, including FBF Youth State Champions:
Big bass: Bo Shamblin, 8.6 lbs
First place: Dalton Gorman and Chris Cooper, 12.89 lbs (Lakeland Jr. Bassmasters)
Second place: Jonathan Jones and Logan Hill, 12.45 lbs (Lakeland Jr. Bassmasters)
Third place: Roger Weigel and Jackson Williams, 10.7 lbs (Lakeland Jr. Bassmasters)
Fourth place: Jacob and Reed Martin, 8.71 lbs (Okeechobee)
Fifth place: Jacob Groene and Gavin Green, 8.7 lbs (Lakeland Jr. Hawg Hunters)
The next Bartow High School Yellow Jackets tournament will be held on a private lake Dec. 29.
