Junior Bassmasters fishing activities

Lakeland Junior Bassmasters held their Aug. 10 tournament out of Lake Hartridge. A lot of fish in the 4-6 pound range were weighed in from several of the area lakes.

Results:

11-14 yr. olds

First: Roger Weigel, 14.3 pounds.

Second: Wesley Womack, 9.15 pounds, big bass, 5.5 pounds.

Third: Jackson Williams, 8.7 pounds.

Fourth: Seth Lake, 6.7 pounds.

Fifth: Connor Price, 4.95 pounds.

15-18 yr. olds

First: Cole Schmucker, 19.7 pounds, big bass, 6.35 pounds.

Second: Luke Ferguson, 17.6 pounds.

Third: Chris Cooper, 9.55 pounds.

Fourth: Dustin Bozeman, 9.35 pounds.

Fifth: Cornelius Chandler, 9.15 pounds.

Upcoming tournaments

Next tournament will be out of Lake Shipp on Sept. 7. Weigh in is at 1 p.m.. For information, see go to www.lakeland

B.A.S.S. Nation High School Series

The first tournament of the 2013-2014 season will be “The Harris Chain Challenge” on Oct. 6. It will be from Wooton Park in Tavares. The event is open to any two high school kids provided they attend the same school. The entry fee is $40 per team. Entries must be postmarked by
Sept. 26. the entry form is available at
www.floridafederationnation.com/high-school.php. Entries will also be taken at registration, but there will be a $25 late fee.

Each angler will be responsible for paying Florida Bass Nation dues ($15 per year, will be good for 2013 and 2014). There is a mandatory meeting from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 5th at the Civic Center in Tavares.

Camp Mack Reel Kids event

Kids will be tested in flipping/pitching, casting and reeling at the Camp Mack Reel Kids Event in Lake Wales.

It takes place from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 14 at Camp Mack, 14900 Camp Mack Road Lake Wales. Registration opens at 8 a.m.

The age groups the event is open to is 6 and youngers, 7-9 and 10-12. It will be run by Bartow High School bass fishing team and Camp Mack staff.

BHS Jackets and Camp Mack volunteers will total the kids scores and announce winners on the Camp Mack weigh in stage 12:30 p.m. prizes and giveaways. Camp Mack Reel Kids are invited to stay for Tournament weigh-ins.
