ARCADIA — Former Arcadia Finance Director Jorge Santana was denied his claim for unemployment benefits after he was fired by the city because the Department of Economic Opportunity, which administers unemployment benefits in Florida, says he quit.

Santana, a salaried employee, was fired by City Administrator Judi Jankosky on Aug. 2 for allegedly falsifying his attendance records between June 25 and July 19. He was accused of claiming 25 minutes of work time when he was not in the office.
