The Arcadia Literary Club enjoyed a wonderful meeting on Nov. 14. For the 2012-2013 program the focus is on Juan Ponce de Leon and the significance of his landing in Florida in 1513. The club will have programs on the explorations of this famous conquistador as he moved between Florida, Cuba and Puerto Rico.

The meeting was held at the beautiful country home of Muriel Hall. What a pleasure it was to drive to the country and observe the amazing view of nature while traveling through a family’s working ranch. Hall was assisted in greeting the members and guest by her cohostesses Ann Pepper, Tara Welles-Jones and Shannon Fusco. Kay Hall traveled from Sarasota to assist Muriel. The hostesses served a wonderful array of delectable refreshments and sweets in a fall setting focusing on the coming Thanksgiving period. Some of the dishes focused on the Spanish theme including the special dessert, flan.
