The beautiful country home of Julie Crews was the site of the Arcadia Literary Club’s Dec. 12 meeting. Julie’s home was sparkling with gorgeous holiday decorations including a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. As hostess, Julie was assisted by cohostesses Kim Fender, Jamie Kirschner and Pam Ames. Another important assistant was Julie’s husband, Mark, who expertly cooked up a huge skillet of absolutely delicious Spanish Paella. The members arrived and had the opportunity to extend their holiday greetings to each other, socialize a bit, and then enjoy an offering of that wonderful Paella, mixed salad, Julie’s homemade holiday “cake lollipops,” dessert flan and many more goodies.

The meeting was called to order by President Susan Barnes. Secretary Raye Southwell then read the minutes from the Nov. meeting, as well as correspondence from Trinity United Methodist Church thanking the Arcadia Literary Club for its recent donation to its meal program. Treasurer Sally Aldrich then read the treasurer’s report and reminded those who had not done so to pay their annual dues. A basket was then passed and members were asked for voluntary donations for a monetary holiday gift to a selected needy family in DeSoto County.
