PUNTA GORDA — Kevin Williams, the owner of the Punta Gorda Speedway for the past two and a half years, announced this week he and a partner have purchased the DeSoto Super Speedway in southern Manatee County.

That has fueled speculation that Williams will be pulling up stakes at the Punta Gorda Speedway when its lease with the Charlotte County Airport Authority expires March 31.
