Two spices for local landscapes

While rarely setting seed in our area, cardamom still makes a landscape impact with lush tropical, scented foliage.

Turmeric provides seasonal tropical foliage, pink, exotic flowers and rhizomes useful as a culinary spice.
I have found two spices that have done fairly well over the years in my landscape that I would recommend: cardamom and turmeric.
Both of these plants are successfully growing at the edge of shady nooks in my backyard. Plants like these serve as both edible and ornamental subjects making them doubly valuable to me.
