Last week’s column on past memories and how kids think folks our age lived in the days of the dinosaur drew some good comments from some, so I decided to extend the subject this week and get a few more miles and smiles out of it. Thanks, y’all!
My buddy Guy reminded me of how he grew up “watching the radio.” And folks really did that. The radio was a magical window that not only brought news of the world into homes, but opened the minds and imaginations of listeners of all ages with everything from comedy and music to mystery and soap operas. Same goes for books, as we had to draw on the images in our minds to bring things to life back then.
