It is said that we’ll always have our inner child within us, and I like that notion. But until 1998 I’d never given much thought of having an inner grandparent inside me, waiting to be called upon. And then he emerged ... my grandson, as well as the grandfather in me.
Grandchildren sure have a way of putting the “grand” in “grandparent,” don’t they? Instead of getting under your skin, they get under your heart and work their way in pretty quickly, and take root forever. But you knew that already, didn’t you?
