I am of the mind that a sense of humor is not only a fantabulous facet of life, but it’s a necessity in keeping one’s sanity as well. And it sure does provide some fun memories to savor and share as we get older. Take for instance, playing pranks.
Back in the day, the big joke to play on someone was executed by flipping through the phone book, picking a random number, and calling them to ask, “Is your refrigerator running?” Of course they’d reply that it was, and of course we’d follow up with, “Well then, you better go catch it!” and hang up. Or you could call the local mom and pop store and ask, “Do you have Prince Albert in the can?” That was loose tobacco to make hand-rolled cigarettes, of course, and was sold in tins. The unsuspecting caller would confirm the product, and you’d yell, “Well you better let him out!” before slamming the receiver down.
