DeSoto wins holiday basketball tournament

DeSoto County’s Kari Williams was named the MVP of the Sebring basketball tournament. He scored 27 points and played a strong defensive game for the Bulldogs.

The Champion DeSoto Bulldogs celebrate after their 57-47 victory over Sebring. There were many fans from DeSoto County at the game including high school administrators. Assistant Principals Karen Pella and Paul Curtis along with Principal Shannon Fusco join in the celebration.

Pedro Buenrostro gets fouled as he attempts to put a shot off the board in the championship game against Sebring. Buenrostro made the All Tournament team leading the Bulldogs with 41 points.

The DeSoto County boys’ basketball team won the school’s first basketball championship since 2007 as they rolled over their competition in the Sebring tournament last weekend.

Not only did they win the tournament but they also placed three players on the All Tournament team. Kari Williams won the MVP award for the tournament as he joined teammates Pedro Buenrostro and Jordan Washington on the All Tournament team.
