The DeSoto County varsity girls basketball team played a good game against Port Charlotte. They didn’t win — they actually lost by 17 points, 61-44. It was the way that they played that showed the kind of team Head Coach Joe Davis has.
The Pirates came out strong, and aided by several DeSoto turnovers, held an 18-2 lead at the end of the first period. Many teams would have packed it in right there and just played out the game after getting into such a deep hole.
