Not only do many Live Oak RV Resort residents enjoy playing golf, but this community also enthusiastically supports one of their favorite local charity organizations. The Resort Golf Committee doubled their efforts this season and on March 11 presented a check for $5,499 to Jolene Mowry, Director of the Back Pack Kidz, of the Yah Yah Girls of Punta Gorda.
Local businesses were again offered the opportunity to sponsor holes at the 9th annual golf tournament, held on March 5 and 6, where their names were prominently displayed on signs at the sponsored tee-off boxes. Resort residents participated in a street challenge, activities at a pool party, and attended monthly soup suppers which generated donations. In addition, a small group who call themselves “Kardless-for-Kidz” will not be giving their resort friends birthday and anniversary cards for the next year: instead they’re donating an equivalent amount to this charity.
