In the 169-pound weight class for DeSoto County, Andre Jones waits to clean and jerk 150 pounds over his head in the March 18 meet against Hardee.
The DeSoto County weightlifting team lost a close match to Hardee 34-29 this past Monday in the Bulldog weight room. Again it was Bulldogs’ lack of lifters in some of the classes that led to their defeat.
“We consider this an individual sport. As long as we get better than we were at the previous meet then we have won,” said coach Darryl Jackson. Some of our boys didn’t work out during the spring break and it showed today. Five of our boys got new personal bests today, so we are getting better every week.”
