MURDOCK — Charlotte County commissioners went against staff recommendations and hired Halfacre Construction to do the Gasparilla Road expansion that will include widening the road, new sidewalks and new lights.

Halfacre will oversee the widening of Gasparilla Road 2.5 miles from State Road 776 to Rotonda Boulevard East.
