City Council member weighs in on SMH prospects

VENICE — At least one Venice City Council member is openly calling for the council to squash an effort by Sarasota Memorial Hospital to build in Venice if there isn’t a meeting of the minds on how to proceed.

Bob Daniels, who was recently elected vice mayor, said he would welcome a partnership between the city and SMH, but called recent efforts to enter the Venice market “unfair” and detrimental to the city.
