PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an El Jobean couple for stealing a $578 television from the Murdock Walmart, thanks to alert employees. Arrested were Teara Anne Sander, 22, and Terry Wayne Davis Jr., 32, both of the 3600 block of Dunreath Road. CCSO deputies responded Tuesday to the Murdock Walmart after security was given information from the North Port Walmart concerning a recent television theft in that store. Murdock Walmart security had enough information and came up with names and photographs of Sander and Davis and distributed a flier to store associates. Security was notified by an employee who saw the subjects on the flier that may have gotten away with a television on Jan. 8. Security reviewed surveillance footage for that day and saw the subjects enter the store and put a 47-inch LG LED 3D television in a cart. Davis exited the store with their two small children while Sander actually stopped to ask for assistance in loading it into their car. After viewing the video, deputies proceeded to the couple’s El Jobean home but were called back to the Murdock Walmart as Sander and Davis had just entered the store. Upon arrival, deputies observed a purple Chevrolet belonging to Davis speeding out of the parking lot and headed toward Target. Sander stayed in the car while Davis went into Target. Sander admitted to taking the TV Jan. 8 and it was at their El Jobean home. She said she was willing to get the stolen TV and give it back to Walmart. Deputies went into Target and located Davis and was confronted about the stolen TV. Davis said, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

Davis and Sander were both charged with felony grand theft and taken to the Charlotte County Jail. At the jail, it was discovered both were on probation. Since Davis recommitted a crime while on probation, he was additionally charged with eight violation of probation charges. Bond was set at $30,000. Sander, a convicted felon, was also on probation and her bond was pulled for recommitting a crime. She was given three violation of probation charges. Her bond was set at $6,500. Both remain in the county jail.
