The Charlotte County Commission may amend the county’s golf cart ordinance to allow the Mobile Gardens subdivision in Englewood East to become a golf cart community, after hundreds of residents signed a petition requesting that they be allowed to use the small vehicles as a mode of transportation within their community.

The proposed amendment also would allow golf cart drivers on bridgeless barrier islands to operate carts without a driver’s license.
