Owner Mira Babek thanks the community for its continued support by offering free food tastings, and she will serve beverages, cakes and more. The North Port Area Chamber of Commerce will present the 2010 Business Disaster Planning Workshop from 10:30 a.m.-noon Oct. 30 for local area business owners who are current members or are considering NPACC membership. It will be held in the Juliano Room of the North Port Library, 13800 S. Tamiami Trail. Seating is limited and registration is required.

Sponsors and players are needed for the “Shop with a Cop” annual charity golf tourney, set for Nov. 20 at Heron Creek Golf & Country Club, off Sumter Boulevard in North Port.

There will be a registration and putting contest at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Format is a four-man scramble. Cost is $60 per person or $240 per team, which includes lunch, skins pot, goody bags, door prizes, beverage specials and awards following the event. There will also be a prize on every hole and a 50-50 raffle. Get a hole in one and win a car.
