Robert de la Montagne Davids sits on Dearborn Street in front of his house in this photo from the late 1930s or early 1940s. He came to Florida by covered wagon, eventually settling in Englewood, according to his grandson Norman Davids, an Englewood resident.

Looking back through these interesting quotes, we see things have changed a bit over the years in Englewood.

After a fishing trip in Lemon Bay in 1893, an unknown tourist said, “We found it to be a huge aquarium. It was literally full of fish. The water was clear. We could see swimming hundreds upon hundreds of fish.”
