Leonard W. Bitant, 79, of Rotonda West, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012.

He was born April 5, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., to William and Bertha (nee Hirsch) Bitant.

Leonard moved to the Englewood area in 1998 from Roselle, Ill. He was a retired Electronics Engineer for Siemens Corporation. Leonard was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 110, both of Rotonda; the Englewood Elks Lodge; and was past Commander of American Legion Post 1084 of Roselle.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth; sons, Jeffrey of Franklin, Wis., Steven of San Antonio, Texas, and Allen of Macomb, Ill.; grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Jennifer, Sarah, Amelia, Marie, William, Jeanie and Julianna; nieces, Sharon, Alice and Katy; nephew, Benjamin; and two great-nieces, Olivia and Nikki. He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Bohlmann.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with funeral services to follow, Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Rotonda West. Please sign the guest book at www.lemonbayfh.com.
