Richard J. “RJ “ Hopper, 76, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, after his birthday celebration, at his Charlotte County residence.

Born Jan. 12, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. Mr. Hopper was an aircraft mechanic for U.S. Air in Pittsburgh for 31 years prior to retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Englewood Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1933.

Survivors include his two sons, John T. Hopper of Bermuda Dunes, Calif., and Richard D. Hopper of Port Charlotte, Fla.; foster son, Andrew F. Conn of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Jane E. Kloppenburg and Maryann Arnold both of Hidden Valley Lake, Calif.; two grandchildren; and former wife, Linda Hopper.
