Ada Elizabeth T. Johnston
Ada Elizabeth T. “Beth” Johnston, 54, of Englewood, Fla., and formerly of Quinton, Va., went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Beth devoted her life to helping others through volunteer work. She was a volunteer for many years in Project Graduation at Lemon Bay High School. Additionally, Beth volunteered in the Take Stock in Children program as a mentor and in the basketball 6th Man Club. She was also active with the Englewood Young Woman’s Club. Beth will be remembered for her endless courage, amazing cooking, craftiness, a giving heart, and love for all family and friends. “There is nothing greater than the heart of a volunteer,” and no truer words can describe Beth.
She touched the lives of many and is survived by her devoted husband, Edwin B. Johnston Jr.; parents, Betty and Wilford Throckmorton; two sisters, Lydia Gay (Bruce) Frye and Fran (Mark) Nevel; one brother, Linny (Donna) Throckmorton; nieces, Devin (Aaron) Smorto, Amanda Nevel, Whitney Nevel, Clara Frye and Sarah Johnston; nephews, Charles Frye, Daniel Throckmorton, Jason (Kylie) Johnston and Jared Johnston; great-nephews, Giovanni Otero and Griffin Johnston; her mother-in-law, Anne K. Johnston; sister-in-law, Barbara Anne Johnston; and brother-in-law, David H. (Jennifer) Johnston. Beth was proud to say that she will be survived by nearly 2,600 Lemon Bay High School graduates.
Beth will be buried next to her grandparents at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, Va. Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 21, 2013; and burial will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, through the Monaghan Funeral Home in Mechanicsville, Va.
