Marion Betts, 85, of Rotonda West, Fla., passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at her Charlotte County, Fla., residence.
She was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., to Leroy and Bessie (nee Evans) Patterson.
Marion was a loving wife, mother and homemaker for her family. She owned and operated Main Street Art in Milford, Mich., for several years. Marion was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the B.P.O. Elks, the Women of the Moose, the Englewood Orchid Society, the Rotonda Book Club, the Rotonda West Women’s Association and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid golfer and retired to Florida in 1998.
Marion is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, H. Glen Betts of Rotonda West; daughters, Patricia (Skip) Hintz of Rotonda West, and Janice (Geoff) Schrock of Belleville, Mich.; son, Herbert Glen (Linda) Betts III of Milford; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia Bowman, in 2009.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at American Legion Post 113, 3436 Indiana Road, Rotonda West. Interment will be in Michigan.
