Allen G. Stenhouse, 73, of Englewood, Fla., went to meet the Lord, Monday, Feb. 25, 2013.

He was born in Fall River, Mass., then lived for 25 years as a resident of West Hartford, Conn., before moving to Englewood.

He was the son of Andrew Stenhouse of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Nina Stenhouse of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, who were Christian missionaries in Santiago, Chile. Allen served honorably in U.S. Navy. He received a BS and an MBA from Georgia State University. Allen was employed for 25 years by CG/Aetna and CIGNA Insurance in Connecticut. He served as past President of the Mountain Commons Association in West Hartford, Conn. Allen was a prolific writer, an activist of environmental issues, and served as a political and charitable volunteer. He was a friend of Bill W. since 1981; he helped many, one day at a time.

Allen is survived by beloved daughters, Michele Marie Stenhouse of Columbia, S.C., and Christine Diane Kent of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; son, Sean Andrew Stenhouse of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren, Arron Robertson, Taylor Stenhouse, Kaye Marie and Cheyenne Stenhouse; and he also leave his ex-wife and best friend of 36 years, Ann Marie Stenhouse of Englewood.

The will be a private interment.
