Vincent C. Scialo
Vincent C. Scialo, 92, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.
He was born Oct. 7, 1920, in New York City, N.Y.
Vincent and his beloved wife Helen, who passed away two days after Vincent, worked side by side in the family restaurant, Aldo’s in NYC, before retiring to Florida, where they enjoyed many years of sun and fun. He was a member of the National Woodcarvers Association, the Cultural Center Woodcarvers of Port Charlotte, Fla., the State Carving Club, the Englewood Culture Center where he taught classes in woodcarving, and was a state and local prize winner for his works in natural and whimsical carvings. Vincent received a first-place national award, ART FROM THE HEART 2012, for his 4-foot-wingspan painted bald eagle, while residing at Pinebrook Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was a life member of New York Elks Lodge 1 for 55 years. Vincent was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Englewood. He was a veteran who served in World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard, and Korean Conflict with the U.S. Navy.
A memorial service will be private. Inurnment for Vincent and Helen will be at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla. You may express your condolences to the family at www.lemonbayfh.com.
