LeRoy Dale Karber
LeRoy Dale Karber, 91, of Englewood, Fla., formerly of Bucyrus, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.
He was born Aug. 18, 1921, to Arden and Imo (Garvin) Karber.
LeRoy graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946, as a locomotive engineer with Company B of the 752nd Railway Operating Battalion, from the Pennsylvania RR. Mr. Karber retired from Conn Rail after 41 years of service. He was a life member of the VFW post 5101, and a life member of 41 years of The American Legion Post 0181, in Bucyrus. Mr. Karber enjoyed woodworking, making coin jewelry, coin collecting, and deep sea fishing. He spent his last two months in the loving care of his daughter, Joyce.
LeRoy is survived by his children, Ruth (Randall) Schiefer of Rotonda West, Fla., Karen (Anthony) Armstrong of Lexington, Tenn., Joyce (Ronald) Ricker of Englewood, Terri (Bob) Lippincott of Pennsylvania, Nyoka (David) Buyaki of League City, Texas, Deborah Perrine of Pennsylvania, and Cindy Karber of Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grand child.
Private family services will be scheduled later with an at sea ceremony. Memorial Contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fl. 34238, in memory of LeRoy D. Karber.
Arrangements are by Neptune Society of Fort Myers, Fla.
