Marion V. Strunz, 92, passed away peacefully on September 16, at her home in Englewood, FL. Her ready smile, optimistic attitude, and sense of humor made her a joy to be with.
She graduated Pompton Lakes High School in NJ and married Joseph Strunz. They lived in Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes, NJ, where she was an executive secretary and ballet teacher. After traveling in Europe and throughout the U.S., the couple retired and moved to Rotonda West, then Englewood, FL, where they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary, before her husband’s passing.
Marion was a member of the Rotonda West Women’s Club, serving as president, district director, as well as a state officer and state art exhibit chairperson. She also served as president of the Rotonda Golf Association.
She served as president of the Englewood Art Center before it became part of Ringling College of Art and Design and also was a board member and a lifetime honorary member.
She was an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Englewood and the PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Marion is survived by her two loving daughters Catherine (husband Leonard) and Lorraine (husband David). Marion is the last surviving sibling of six brothers and sisters, and leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Presbyterian Church of Englewood, FL. A memorial service will be held in Englewood, FL at a future date.
