Lila L. Saroli, 86, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the Hospice House in Venice, Fla.
She was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Walnut, Iowa, the daughter of Wendell and Faye Leenan.
Lila was the loving mother of three children, sons, Rick Sorenson and Steven Sorenson, and daughter, Jacqueline Nemechek. She was known for her thick red hair and quick wit, and enjoyed crocheting, reading and Rod Stewart. She lived in Michigan for 25 years, where she married her husband of 54 years, Anthony Saroli. Lila and her family moved to Venice in 1975. After retiring as bookkeeper at Stottlemyer Lumber Company, she loved volunteering at the thrift shop. She suffered many illnesses in her life, but always faced adversity with courage and belief in her Catholic church. Her family called her the “prayer warrior,” and fondly recall her familiar “this too shall pass” expression of faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony, in 2010; and her son, Steven Sorenson of North Port, Fla., in 2012.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the Chapel of Peace at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood.
Arrangements are by Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
