Marie T Ward, 85, of Rotonda West, Fla., passed away peacefully, Thursday, Sept. 19 2013, at Tidewell Hospice, Arcadia, Fla.

She was born July 10, 1928, in Upper Darby, Pa., to Charles and Mary Myers.

Marie graduated from West Catholic Girls High School in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1947. She married her soulmate and lifelong love of 48 years, Robert E. Ward from Philadelphia. Marie is a founding member and first secretary of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grove City, Fla., where she served in the Women’s Guild and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She is a lifetime member and volunteer of the American Legion Post 113 Auxiliary in Rotonda. Marie leaves behind a legacy of faith, selflessness, care and compassion for those around her and she will be missed deeply by her family and friends. 

She is survived by her son, Robert E. (Debra) Ward; and her granddaughter, Elianna Ward of Rotonda.

Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood. Mass will be at at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Grove City, FL. Donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Arrangements are by Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
