Mantas hang tough, lose in second half to Pirates

Jordan Caron knocks down two more of his team leading 7 points against Port Charlotte. All of Carons points came in the second half. The loss put the Mantas at 7-10 for the season.
ENGLEWOOD — There really isn’t much discussion as to who’s the best boys JV basketball team in the area. The Port Charlotte Pirates have lost only one game and that was to Charlotte by one point in the last three seconds. Also two of their starters missed that game for breaking team rules.
Mantas coach Chuck Beahrs knows his job is to develop players to play for the varsity. One of the things about his team that he is happy to hear comes from other coaches. “The others coaches have told me that nobody plays as hard as my guys and I’m proud of that,” said Beahrs.
