PUNTA GORDA — The Venice High baseball team butters its bread with pitching and defense. On Friday against District 7A-11 rival Charlotte, the latter got to take most of the night off.
Indians pitchers Tyler Shambora and Cooper Hammond combined for 14 strikeouts and allowed three hits as Venice (7-1, 6-0) blanked the Tarpons 8-0.
