Fort Meade Chamber honors
businesses, leaders

One of Fort Meade's newest businesses, Southern Posh, was presented with the Pioneer Small Business award, given to store owner Retha Crawford, right, who is with Chamber coordinator Priscilla Perry. The honor is in recognition for industrious dedication to build an innovative and commercial venture embodying the pioneer spirit of Fort Meade.

Floyd DeVane was recognized with the Larry Hodge Humanitarian Award, given with appreciation for the compassionate service given within the community without the desire to be recognized but ever aware of and quietly meeting the needs of others. He is pictured with Chamber President Bob Sweeney.

Fort Meade's Sunshine Growers was presented with the Community Fellowship Focus Award, for partnering with civic, school and non-profit entities for the purpose of enhancing and supporting events and projects of importance to the resident of Fort Meade. Accepting on the firm's behalf is Denise Harrell, right, pictured with Chamber President Bob Sweeney.

Don Marchman, right, was presented with the Walter Bryant Community Service Award for personifying the word "volunteer" through a life of freely giving time and talent to help Fort Meade raise the bar a little higher. Giving him the award is Chamber President Bob Sweeney.

Donald Robert of Roberts Barbershop was presented with the 2012 Vision Businees honor given to a local establshed commercial enterprise that demonstrated what could be and and then sets its sights of making it a lasting business landmark in Fort Meade. Award winners were voted on by chamber members, and presented at the group's monthly luncheon meeting in January.
