Donald R. Smith, 78, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Valencia Hills Care Center in Lakeland of complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

Born Thursday, Aug. 2, 1934, in Bartow. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of the area.

He was a citrus buyer and fertilizer sales Representative.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winter Haven. He was a retired member of the Florida National Guard.

He is survived his wife, Kathi A. Smith of Bartow; two daughters, Sonya Yakub and husband Mohamad of Pelham, NY, and Cindy Perrin and husband Gene of Bristol, Tenn.; a brother: Jimmy Smith of Minnesota; five grandchildren: Lauren Rudd, Christopher Perrin, Hunter Perrin, Benjamin Perrin all of Tennessee and MJ Yakub of New York and one great grandchild, Maddy Rudd, of Tennessee.

Visitation is Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, 1-2 p.m. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St., Bartow. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
