Lake Placid area volunteer fire departments were feted at an appreciation dinner on Saturday night at the Leisure Lakes fire station. Newly elected Florida State Representative Dr. Cary Pigman gave the keynote address.
The event started with the awarding of several tickets for door prizes. The drawing for the prizes would be later in the evening. The announcement was given shortly after to go into the kitchen to get food. The main hall was decorated for the event. There were tables filled with drinks and desserts at one end of the hall, and tables and chairs where the fire engines are usually parked filling the rest of the hall. The fare consisted of salad, steak, potatoes, green beans, rolls, and an eclectic assortment of drinks and desserts.
